Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg now richer than Google owners?

When Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page became billionaires many years ago, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was still struggling with the social networking site. But now he's richer than them, this is according to Bloomberg. See the full report from Bloomberg below...

The Facebook Inc. chairman added $1.6 billion to his fortune yesterday after the world’s largest social network closed at a record. The surge elevated the 30-year-old’s net worth to $33.3 billion, moving him past Brin, 40, and Page, 41, as well as Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos, 50, on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg is No. 16 on the ranking. The Google founders are 17th and 18th. Bezos occupies the 20th spot.

“He’s just getting started,” David Kirkpatrick, author of “The Facebook Effect,” said in a telephone interview. “He’s going to become the richest person on the planet.”

The Menlo Park, California-based company posted second-quarter sales that soared 61 percent to $2.91 billion yesterday, exceeding analysts’ average estimate of $2.81 billion. The company’s revenue gain follows Google’s results last week, when the Web-search company posted sales that topped analysts’ estimates, largely based on the strength of online ads.

Facebook has jumped 183 percent in the past 12 months, the biggest rally in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The company trades at 82-times reported earnings, compared to a multiple of 18.2 for the S&P 500. Google is up 7.5 percent for the year. 

Mobile promotions accounted for 62 percent of ad sales, up from 59 percent in the prior period. Net income more than doubled to $791 million, with profit excluding some items at 42 cents a share, above the projection of 32 cents. In total, Facebook accounted for 5.8 percent of worldwide digital ad revenue in 2013, up from 4.1 percent in 2012, according to EMarketer Inc.

The company’s performance also propelled the fortunes of other Facebook shareholders, including Dustin Moskovitz, the 30-year-old who started the social network with Zuckerberg at Harvard University a decade ago, and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s 44-year-old chief operating officer who became one of the world’s youngest female billionaires in January. Sandberg owns about 9.9 million shares valued at $740 million and has collected more than $550 million in share sales.

“The company’s success is growing by the minute,” Kirkpatrick said. “There’s no sign it’s going to slow anytime soon.”

San Francisco, CA — On Monday history was made at the Chapel of Our Lady at the Presidio in San Francisco as the first-ever state recognized human-animal marriage took place.
Local resident 35-year-old Paul Horner was the groom during the ceremony. Joining him was his faithful dog Mac who is 36-years-old in dog years. Mac also decided to be the groom but ended up wearing a white veil at the last moment.

Father McHale who officiated the outdoor wedding told reporters he was extremely happy to be a part of this joyous moment of life. “This is the definition of true love my friends. There is nothing more sacred than the bond between a man and his faithful dog,” McHale said. “Now, since it is recognized as a legally binding marriage in the state of California, Mr. Horner and Mac will have all the same tax benefits and everything else coming to them that a regular married couple would receive. It’s a fantastic day to be alive!”

Movie producers war against Omotola Ekeinde and Geneveive Nnaji for being 'too expensive'

Movie stars, Omotola Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji are definitely not smiling at the moment as very few acting opportunities have come their way.

This development is not due to the fault of the actresses rather, they have become victims of their own success.

A while back I published this story of a woman who set herself and husband ablaze.Initial stories were that she was cheating on him but according to this new report by the Sun it wasn't.
They died together – by fire. The house they both shared as man and wife is also in ruins, burnt to the ground. As at the time of writing this report, the charred body of the woman lay morbidly in the midst of the debris. Approaching the burnt building, certain eerie feeling hits with a good impact. The man, who was saved from dying with his wife inside the fire, died on the way to hospital. “You can say both of them died together,” observed a shocked, grieving neighbour.

If corporate bodies perceive them as jobless they won’t want to do business with them, they might even price them cheap.”

They seem to be making a lot of money now though..are they really affected?

Nigerian Navy arrests hijacked ship

The Nigerian Navy has intercepted a Greek-owned merchant tanker, MT KERALA, purportedly hijacked off the coast of Luanda after `spirited four-day’ search in the Gulf of Guinea.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja and signed by Commodore Kabir Aliyu, Director of Naval Information.

The statement added that the arrest was achieved, using the Nigerian Navy remote surveillance system and search patrols by her ships.

It further stated that MT KERALA was currently under Ghanaian custody in the Port of Tema and Interpol operatives were investigating the circumstances of the hijack of the ship.

The statement said that on Jan. 23, the navy received a report from the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) that MT KERALA had been hijacked off Luanda in Angola.

“Subsequent report from IMB on Jan. 25 located her about 50nm South West of Pennington Oil Terminal in Nigeria.

“In a swift response, three patrol vessels were deployed to search for MT KERALA.

“Two other vessels, MT ITRI and a tug boat GARE were reportedly in the vicinity of MT KERALA conducting ship-to-ship transfer of products with KERALA in gross violation of existing regulations in Nigeria.”

It stated that MT ITRI was tracked to the Lagos Area and was arrested by a team of NN and NIMASA personnel.

Wande Coal reveals he has a five year old son

Hip-hop star, Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, better known as Wande Coal, has opened up on what has been his best kept secret saying he has a five year old son whom he affectionately called Coal Jnr.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS recently, the Black Diamond star said rather than being subjected to crude speculations by some mischievous groups, he would want to reveal the private side of him that many didn’t know.

“Nobody is going to surprise me anymore. Let me then announce to the whole world that I already have a five-year old son. I had the boy since 2008 before I released my debut album,‘Mushin 2 Mo’Hits’. I have been keeping it secret ever since then but think it’s high time people should know,” Wande Coal told P.M.NEWS.

In October last year, a blog, famzin.com, owned by Ike Orizu, first broke the well-kept secret that Wande has fathered a 5-year old boy from a lady said to be pop star, D’Banj’s relative.
